North-West Bali: Bali Gecko Homestay, Pemuteran

There are loads and loads of hotels, villas, and homestays on the coast. You can take your pick depending on your preferred location and budget.

Michael and I weren't going for anything fancy but we want something nice and clean. So we stayed at Gecko homestay in Pemuteran.

From the photos, you will see it is newly-built and well-maintained. At the moment there are 6 rooms, all with queen-sized beds, lamps, a/c, a ceiling fan, and bathroom. The rooms are well-designed and pretty.

I couldn't take a proper picture of the room due to l
The only downside I noticed was that I could hear the conversations next door. But then, the two girls were chatting pretty loudly. Good thing, they didn't go all night so, we still had a restful sleep.

I noticed the small details that they input in everything, from the cements paths to the wall decors, and how the paint colors of the door frames matched the ceiling fan and others.

It is a simple place to stay away from the main road (Jl. Seririt-Singaraja) so it is quiet and easy. Still, it is not far from the restaurants and cafes on the main road. It is also near the beach so you can either walk or ride your motorbike or car through the back road.

The rooms are:
Rp 200,000 (~$18) a night with breakfast
+ Rp 50,000 if you used the a/c.

There is no hot water but the days are very hot so the cool water is actually quite refreshing.

They have a small restaurant that serves food and drinks if you need some.

They also offer tour activities if you prefer to have them sort your activities out for you.

*They have no website up yet but they are on every budget hotel search site like Agoda, bookings.com, tripadvisor, trivago, etc..

And if you are coming from Negara on Jl Seririt-Singaraja, Bali Gecko will be on your left. There have a big sign up on the main street, you won't miss it.

Some locals were doing a prayer ritual in the middle of the road.

For dinner, we wanted to eat on the beach so we went to to very lovely Pondok Sari Beach and Spa Resort. The have beautiful teak tables, chairs, and daybeds on the sand. And in the evening, lit by lamps strewn on the magestic trees. A very romantic atmosphere to say the least. The food was a bit pricey but delicious and well-presented (our bill ran up to $50).

Out of curiosity we asked the room rates: starts from Rp 1 million = ~$85+ a night depending on room type.

There are many many other restaurants and cafes on the main street to choose from.
