Flores -- 1 Day Snorkeling

I think apart from seeing the komodo dragons, my other favorite was the 1-Day snorkeling trip.

Initially, we were to go with a group and do the usual snorkeling route around Rinca and Komodo all the way to the Manta Rays. But, since the weather was very unpredictable then and our disappointment with Kanawa the day before, we heeded the advise given by the owner of Flores Komodo Expedition.

But..... before you book your trip, it'd be wise to ask yourself these:

What do you want out of your trip?
How are your snorkeling / swimming skills?

Considering our amateur snorkeling skills and preference for some quiet time, he recommended a mellow 1-Day trip to the West of Labuan Bajo. The cluster of islands and islets in that corner boasts of white sands, bays, and easy snorkeling and swimming spots for beginners and advanced alike. It is also a lot closer t town compared to the more popular diving spots, so you won't need to rush to get back to the harbor in the afternoon.

We were very very happy and satisfied with his advise as we had the boat to ourselves and pretty much had the command as to which island we wanted to go to.

Also, the islands we were taken to were uninhabited and there were no other snorkelers or divers around!

Most also had easy access to the reefs from the shore so beginners won't have a difficult time swimming to the reefs. More so, the bay was calm then so the current was manageable.

our boat captain, Rizky. Funny guy.

We snorkeled 4 islands and just had an amazing experience!

How much?

We paid Rp 350,000 (~$30) per person which included a basic lunch of rice + chicken.

Buy some water as you will get very thirsty.
Also don't forget your sunscreen, rash guard, and snork gear!

Anyway, below are the photos and see for yourself how beautiful the islands are!

Island #1: Pulau Sabolo

Island #2: Pulau Anita

This little island is my favorite for its pristine, powdery white sand and beautiful views of the neighboring islands and islets. If only I had the money to buy it! Haha

SNAILSSS!

Island #3: Pulau Saraya Besar

A massive 5-star resort is being constructed.

Island #4: Pulau Bidadari
