sunset on the northern coast of the region |
We decided to rough it out with our friends so instead driving a car or flying, we boarded a commuter bus to take us there.
HOW and WHAT?
We are coming from the Paranaque area so the closest bus terminal is the EDSA-PASAY terminal (by Sogo Motel).
*If you're coming from the airport, this is the nearest bus terminal to you.
Many bus companies travel to the North of Luzon and will stop by La Union daily.
- Partas
- Genesis
This website has info on the bus companies, trip schedules, and fares: PH BUS Travel
We rode Partas and paid about P420 = $10
No reservations necessary.
Trips start at 1 AM and there's a 4:30 AM trip bound for La Union. You want to get on that first one as the journey is about 6-8 hours long depending on the traffic and if the bus decides to take more passengers along the way.
ACCOMMODATIONS
My friend who goes to La Union regularly got us a room at Sebay Surf Resort and it did not disappoint! Affordable, clean, and comfortable, it was perfectly beachfront too.
Food: We had dinner at Sebay and at the nearby hotels as well. Amazing breakfast, lunches, and dinner throughout!
above: Taho (soy curd with caramelized sugar and tapioca balls) and typical Pinoy Breakfast of eggs, rice, and corned beef, plus coffee of course.

as for the Surf??
Well, we did some but unfortunately, the Surf God's weren't on our side that weekend. It was mostly small, windy and onshore. Mike rented a longboard and had fun nonetheless.
Due to the lack of surf, Mike busied himself riding (or driving) the local transportation.
