Philippines -- Normal Food

After all that street food adventure, It was time for Mike to try some "normal" home-cooked Filipino food.

Clockwise Left to Right:

Spaghetti Filipino Style -- spaghetti noodles with tomato sauce and hotdog slices
Chicken Lollipop -- chicken wings where the skin is peel and wrapped over one end to look like a lolly, then fried.
Hotdog skewered with marshmallows
Pork Barbecue -- pork skewer
White Rice
Pot Roast -- beef in gravy
Chop Suey -- mixed vegetable dish in a starchy sauce. small shrimps and eggs are often added.
Pork Embutido -- a pork meatroll dish, steamed and baked. similar to the meatloaf.
Halabos na Sugpo -- steamed prawns

Not in photo:

Rellenong Bangus -- steamed stuffed fish

He especially liked the spicy Laing (shrimp and spinach in coconut milk), Bulalo (beef stock and marrow bones,) and the Tuna Sisig (grilled tuna on a sizzling hot plate). And of course, he washed them all down with the famous local brew, the San Miguel Pale Pilsen.

Buko -- coconut
Kare Kare -- local curry stew with thick peanut sauce.

Panlasang Pinoy has good recipes on the mentioned dishes and more.
