Bali Treetop Adventure -- Face your Fear of HEIGHTS!

Last week the parents committee of the school I work for organized a day-out activity for the students and parents. It was at the Bali Treetop Adventure Park in Bedugul.

I had been to one 2 years ago in the Philippines and totally enjoyed myself so I didn't think twice of joining the trip. It was a day of extreme challenge and thrill. I don't really like heights so this was a great way for me to muster up and face my fears. I just wish I prepared well enough in terms of wearing the right clothing -- pants or leggings and gloves would have helped in preventing the injuries I incurred slamming on the trees and nets! But, at the end of the day, all the scrapes and bruises were worth all the fun I had!

The adventure park boasts of various challenging circuits and courses based on age, height, and skill. The courses go from easy to difficult yet giving one a chance to hone their skills by working your way from the beginner/practice courses to the more advanced and difficult 'Red' and 'Black' courses.

would you dare??
You may want to know that all circuits and courses are done on tree height ranges of 6 to 70 feet! So, if you've never done this before, it would be best to practice on the easier courses first like the 'Yellow' (for children) and 'Green' (adults). Then as your confidence grows, you can move on to the advanced 'Orange' and 'Blue' courses.

the Green courses. adults can start here for practice.

for a bit more challenge, the Blue course.
On these courses are a full range of acro-challenges such as wall climbing, flying foxes, suspended bridges and stilts, nets, swings, and everyone's favorite -- ziplines! All designed to tickle the "acro-adventurer" in you!
waiting for her turn. only one person is allowed per challenge.

i wish there was a more graceful way to land on a net!

this one is tough!

he's stoked to be 60 feet high!

ziplines abound!
the finale for the Black course

One's love or fear of heights is definitely challenged here. Just remember to keep calm, make sure your harnesses are hooked, and follow instructions. The park staff are everywhere on the ground checking on the climbers and if your acrophobia suddenly hits and you can't go on, they will help rope you down to safety.

prepped up and pre-injury. haha
Ran smack into the tree. Such a kook.

Some suggestions:

What to wear?
A tank top or shirt
Shorts but if you want to avoid scrapes, pants or leggings
Runners
Gloves -- they sell them at the park for IDR 20,000 = ~$2

Food?
Pack lunch and have a picnic! The park is located within the Bedugul Botanical Garden (Kebun Raya) and the grounds are gorgeous for picnics and outdoor lunches. Bring a ball and have a kick-about as well!

Side Note:
On the way to treetop, our bus driver made a mistake and thought he was taking us to a different park. So for a bit, we stopped at Danau Beratan (Beratan Lake).

So gorgeous -- the park, the temple, the lake. A little peace of heaven in central Bali.
