How to get from Kuala Lumpur to Langkawi

Jasmin and I took a cab from Berjaya Square to Sentral Station. From here, we rode the train to Bukit Jalil Station and walked about 5 minutes to the "temporary Bus Station / Terminal" -- because Puduraya Bus Terminal is closed for renovation at the time (it has resumed operations in 2011) -- where we took the late night bus, 11:30PM for Alor Setar.

I think we paid around ~RM40 for a regular air-conditioned bus. It was nothing special and quite uncomfortable for a 7-hour ride.

We arrived at Alor Setar around 8 in the morning and took a cab ride to Kuala Kedah Port.

The boat ride was about 1 ½ hours and cost RM23. It was smooth throughout however very crowded. If you’re claustrophobic, this might not be a very enjoyable experience.

Langkawi Ferry information.

It was probably 10:30 by the time we arrived at the Langkawi Jetty Port. We took another cab to take us to the main strip where all the hostels were. It was easy to find a room as it was an off-peak season.
